Welcome to EASY MONEY. I’m Jill the Money Coach. I know what it’s like to push through to white knuckle it to put in the time and get no results. That’s why I help coaches go from doing everything the hard way to making money easy. You want to create your dream life and dream business. That’s all about being free to do what you want. And guess what I finally wore her down. So participate. Persistence does pay, hang in there and keep talking to your people. Eventually you’ll wear them down and they won’t be able to stop themselves. From booking a call with you. I’ve got a story I need to share with you at some point that my husband told me about when he got out of college and he was looking for a job. And what his dad told him so if I don’t remember to share this podcast episode, if it’s isn’t the right place to share it. But it is so funny, so I need to share it at some point. Anyway, today I am sharing another one of my conversations with coaches. Today’s guests are some of my favorite people. I have been in several of their programs over the last couple of years. And I just love hanging out with them. They’re definitely part of Team Jill, they will tell you that. So I’m really glad that you’ll get to listen in on this conversation because I know once you hear this conversation if you don’t already, you’ll want them on your team too Kim Job is seasoned online business owner and a certified life coach. She has worked with some of the biggest names in the business including playing a big part in the growth of The Life Coach School. That’s where I first learned about her. And so I was so excited to see her in a program that I was doing and get to know her more but she specializes in business strategy, and helps coaches with marketing systems scaling and consistent profitability. She also runs a passion project called Soul Stories, which by the way, I highly recommend I’m in it right now and I am loving it, where she helps people unlock the power in their stories. Now Scott Job is a certified leadership and high performance coach and loves helping others realize and achieve their untapped potential. And I can vouch for that because he is such a cheerleader. His unique tell it like it is coaching style quickly makes him a client favorite. He’s an advocate of using mindset tools, energy and focus to change your life. His background and company culture team building mindset tools and sales strategy make him a powerful addition to the Coach and Kim team. Now, at the end of this episode, I’ll tell you how you can get in touch with coach and Kim. But first, just enjoy this amazing conversation.

I just want to welcome you, Kim and Scott are coaches. I like to call you I don’t know why. But I don’t necessarily think of you to match his coach, or I mean, Scott, I think before. But I am just so thrilled that you both are here and that we finally made this happen because we’ve been talking about it for a little while. So I’m glad that we finally got together on our schedules.

Same Thank you for having us. We’re really excited to be here and talk to you today. And I’m super excited to bring Scott with me.

Yeah, so let’s start there. Tell me a little bit about, I’ll let you go. First. Scott. Tell me a little bit about what brought you here and then and then we can move over to Kim because I don’t think my audience knows really who you are or how you where you came from.

Well, I I appreciate the opportunity to To tell a little bit about who I am, though a little less known part of Coach and Kim, I think a lot of people know Kim as a coach. And so they just assume that it’s it’s her and her and, but I started coaching athletics, high school athletics pretty early on. And so I would say being from a small town, maybe 45 55%, people would call me coach over Scott, there are still a lot of people that call me Scott. But a lot of the people that I know would call me Coach. And so you know, it just got to be one of those things where if they say, what name can I put on that order, I would just say, Coach, our license plate and but yeah, I think it’s been a long time common, I started coaching early on fact, I wasn’t even 20 yet. And I was not only coaching athletics, but I had kids that needed stuff. And I would, you know, bring them into the coach’s office and talk to them. And basically, it’s the same message really, it’s, it’s, you have it in you, like everybody has that inner champion. So it’s really about getting people to tap into that inner champion for me. But it really it happened all along, in every job I’ve had, when I coached at the high school. And then, you know, Kim got in the world of, of Life Coach School, and and, you know, I’ve, I’ve been around the training, but I didn’t officially certify, I don’t know if that is something that people can judge me on. But I’ve had, I have a lot of different modalities. And that’s kind of how I got to where I am, I’ve been in the world of training and development for a long time. So, you know, we just have naturally evolved into, there are things that she talks a lot about, she’s a big strategy person, she you know, not that I’m not strategy being a coach, but I’m really about belief and energy and focus, and that kind of stuff, to really tap into get people to tap into what they have inside of them.

I love it. So you did training and development for sales, right?

Yes, that’s one of the areas I did new hire training, I did sales agent training. I did training way back in the day at the at a borax mine. They I actually got nominated by my boss and my co workers to be on the five person training committee. So that wasn’t that included. Creating the materials and gone out in the field and training. And so I’ve been in training for a very long time, probably since pre-thirty. So that’s just a few years ago now.

That’s awesome. That gives us a little bit better sense of where you’re coming from, you know, doing the training and the coaching. And because I’ve already always hear you talk a lot about or, you know, being in coaching pods and the different programs I’ve been in with you heard you talk about selling a lot. And so that’s where I got the idea that you were in sales at some point.

And it does come up a lot in our coaching talking to people you know, people think selling is a four letter word, nothing to get nervous about. It’s actually something to get excited about. Yeah, so it’s really your mindset around selling that either makes you good at it, or causes you to struggle. And so that that is something we we do in our pods. We talk a lot about that type of stuff.

Yeah. Which I think is good, because a lot of people do have a lot of fear and intimidation around selling.

Well, and especially in your world where you deal with money. And let’s be honest, we can make money difficult if we want to are weak, we can keep it simple, right? The kiss method. Yeah, keep it super simple. And staying with our strengths, but not not letting anxiety and frustration get in. So there are a lot of ways you can go with that.

Yeah, yeah. And I really am happy that you both agreed to come on here. And I did want to infuse this conversation with both of you because one I love you both so much. And two because you have different perspectives that you bring to the topic of building a business and they’re both so valuable both of your perspectives are so valuable your experience in your respective areas is so valuable to talk about for anybody that might be struggling in their business right now. So, Kim, I wanted you to I mean, I know a lot of people that listen to easy money podcast already know you from working at the Life Coach School, but I’m honored to give Have you a chance to kind of talk about what made you so successful at The Life Coach School and what makes you such a successful coach and strategist to have on their team?

Yeah, I’ve been a lifelong learner. So like a lot of people think that I just started when I started at the Life Coach School, but I built three or four businesses before I ever started at the Life Coach School, my very first six figure business was selling stickers. So like, I’ve had a variety of businesses. But I’ve kind of I, I say, I get like, grew up in the online business world. And I was basically self taught until I went to the Life Coach School. And then I worked there, it was an amazing opportunity. It was like the hardest thing I’ve ever done in the best thing I’ve ever done, you know how those things usually are. But I, what I realized is what’s made me successful in all of those things, is kind of what Scott said that I’ve just really relied on what I’m good at. I haven’t. I know a lot of coaches teach, like, always be in breakthrough step outside your comfort zone. And like, I don’t believe that I actually believe you can grow your business within your comfort zone, by doing what you’re already good at, like you, we were all good at things before we ever became a coach. And like, those are the things that I want clients to shine a light on, because those are the things that make them different. So I don’t know if that answered your question, but I got passionate about something.

I love it. I absolutely love it. Because I love it when people come on here and disrupt the thinking, the general thinking in our industry, I love that I had I interviewed Mark Butler a few weeks ago. Well, we have had another conversation like this, I’m starting to call this conversations with coaches. Right? So we have that conversation. And he’s very disruptive as well, I mean, that he thinks outside the box. And he challenges some of the the typical beliefs in in the coaching world about building your business. And I always love that I always love challenging the status quo. And helping people think about things differently and helping people think through things for themselves, which is another thing I love about working with you guys, because you’re all about teaching people to do it their own way to find their own way in the business building world and to make what they like and what they want to do, and what they’re good at work for them. So I would love to, for you to talk a little bit about that, like, especially the mindset piece, like, how do you come to that? Or either one of you really? How do you come to that from a mindset of this is the right way for me? Like how does that work in your brain? Because I think a lot of people out there struggle with oh, I can’t do it that way. Because that’s not the right way that I have come to just from watching so many coaches and seeing behind the scenes of coaching businesses, even the big coaches out there are literally figuring it out step by step by step as they go. There’s no one right answer. Even on the internet, like the way to do business kind of goes in a wave through the internet. And people do it one way. And then the big names need something new to sell. So they come up with a new way. And then that way it goes through the internet. And so like there’s no one right way, any way will work. That’s where we really teach like, figure out your way to do what you’re already good at. If you’re good at writing, right? If you’re good at speaking speak, if you’re good at video, do video, like you don’t have to always be stretching yourself so much to grow. And yeah, just like really figuring out where what you’re good at and put that in your business. And watch it take off like it’s magic.

Yeah, I I would just add to that, that, you know, we may have lost a few people, hopefully not, but when we’re talking about staying in your comfort zone and, and you know, move on with your strengths. That doesn’t mean that we’re unrealistic and don’t realize being vulnerable, putting yourself into some uncomfortable situations. stretching yourself can be very valuable. And there are a lot of wins that you can come up with by doing that. So it’s not that we say don’t do that. We just don’t necessarily agree that you have to live there. And so when people are hearing that they’re like, oh, no, they must not know what they’re talking about. Now it’s it’s not about that. It’s really about figuring out, and I learned this probably over a decade ago, again, I made it myself. But when we would teach people coming into the sales to do it a certain way, and some of the people on the sales floor, we’re not doing it that way. And so I just decided, kind of on my own was a little bit of a rebel Majan that, and I just decided I’m going to teach some philosophies, I’m going to teach some concepts and some techniques, and then I’m going to let them figure out what works best for them. And then, oh, mg, I saw some huge benefits people coming out of my training class versus some of the other trainers that were, you know, I looked at the top 10. And there’s a majority of those came out of my training, it’s really about taking concepts, taking philosophies, mixing them with what you’re good at, and what you’re comfortable or what you can become comfortable with. And then really taken off with it because especially in sales, you know, I mentioned before, people see that as a four letter word, and they attack it like it’s a four letter word, making money doesn’t have to be difficult. It doesn’t have to be what we were taught all the all the years ago, you know, the whole money doesn’t grow on trees and all that stuff that I grew up with. No, it doesn’t grow on trees. But the truth is, we don’t have to make it as difficult as we try to make it I think sometimes. And that’s kind of how sales is, if I can have something that I’m selling, that I can get excited about myself, I can use my own techniques, what works best for me to do that. And it’s kind of the same concept in business. You don’t have to do all the things that everybody out there are doing and talking about, and whatever part of your strategy, your personal strategy, is picking a few things and being really good at those things. Where you put your focus on, you know, I always say what what you focus on grows. And in our world, it’s absolutely true. We’ve had clients that were doing all the things, and they were struggling, they felt like their wheels were spinning. And then they just concentrated on a few things. In one situation, we just said you pick three, any three, it doesn’t matter, you can pick that three.

And within a short amount of time, she was like, Oh my gosh, all the year, I only made this. And then the last whatever six weeks, you know, or actually was within a month, she got her first five figure months, she made over 10 grand. It’s really about focus. It’s about knowing your strengths, getting excited about what you’re selling, because Kim says it all the time. You can’t expect them to be more excited than you are. So if you’re like, Well, I’ve got this to sell. Yeah, you’re probably not going to be successful. Get excited about what you have to sell what you’re offering, what is what is your place? What do you have to offer? And then get excited about it?

Yeah, I love that. Because I mean, that does make things simple when you choose three things, and you get excited about it. And I saw a video that I can put on Instagram from I think it was one of your coaching pod calls where you were like, yes, she finally found something that she couldn’t stop talking about. Yeah, that makes it so important.

Yeah, that’s the thing. I think we look at niche wrong. Like we’ve all been taught, you have to pick your niche. And we go through all these exercises about our ideal client avatar, and it’s all about them outside of us. And this is another disrupter. But I think like turn it inward. Niche is about you. What are you here to say? What are you passionate about? What’s your message to share with the world. That’s what your niche is. Because when that’s what your niche is, you literally can’t shut up about it. Because you’re so freaking excited that you want to tell the world and your energy is also excited and that brings your clients in. So like people get so caught up in niche. And I say, the reason, the reason for picking a niche that we’ve been taught to pick a niche is to to create specificity. But you can create that same thing by just deciding this is what I’m passionate about. This is my message to share with the world. And I’m gonna keep saying it over and over and over. And that creates the exact same specificity that creating your niche statement and designing your ideal client avatar and all that crap that we’ve been taught, creates, like you don’t need to do that anymore. literally wake up in the morning and ask yourself, what do I want to tell my people today? That’s your niche. That’s your needs today and tomorrow, your niche might be something different because you might want to tell them something different. And like that’s really okay, because it’s whatever you are here to say that is going to bring your people.

So, yeah, I would only add to that, that there might be a lot of people surprised if they knew some of the big names in the industry have changed their niche a few times. Some of the people I know that are very, very, very successful, you know, million plus businesses a year, that started out in one niche and changed their nation a number of times. So you don’t have to always be passionate about one thing. But when you’re passionate, and people feel your passion and your excitement, and you’re, you know, your message is real, it’s genuine, your people will be attracted to you, they will hear your message, and immediately want to follow want to watch want to be a part of it. And so, you know, that’s one of the concepts we talked about, is getting people in our world, getting people that are like minded, that would benefit from our energy, from our focus, and our mindset. And we would want to tap into that. And I just think it’s about getting excited. Like I said, I got excited as a high school football/baseball coach. It’s the same here, I’m excited about helping people figure out how to put it together and start making some money. Because there are a lot of people that have businesses, but there’s, they’re not making money, they’re just not making the kind of money that they want. And I just think that there’s some very simple concepts, some very basic principles that you can apply, and it can take off. And sometimes that’s a little strategic, sometimes that’s about putting yourself in the right situation making your business way you want it. What’s fun for you. Because it’s not really sustainable if you hate coming to work every day. Yeah, even if it’s in your own house.

Yeah, one of the reasons I left corporate was because I got tired of not doing things that I felt like they contributed, and, and going to having to go to work every day, especially when you have an awful commute. It’s just not fun. And so it’s funny, how many of us leave our corporate jobs, and then come work for ourselves and treat ourselves the same way. As we were treated in corporate?

Yeah, yeah. Yes. And I just have to touch on what you just said. That’s one of those things that I find a lot people are outside of integrity that would never be outside of integrity. And they only become outside of integrity. When it comes to themselves. They treat themselves like they wouldn’t treat nobody else. They judge themselves harshly. They push themselves in a way that’s not productive. It’s not the right way to go. So it’s really about having integrity yourselves, figuring out what the boxes and what’s going to go in that box, where are my boundaries, and then staying true to those. That’s really a big part of, I think of making money in a business.

Yeah. Yeah. And can you talk about something that I think people get stuck in a lot, you said, you’re a lifelong learner. And you’ve actually use that to your advantage. But I see so many business owners getting stuck there and getting overwhelmed with all of the consumption and getting too focused on gathering new information or learning all the things that mean, they don’t even know if they’ll need at any given point. So I would love to hear you talk about how you have been able to constrain or how you think about that in a way that actually serves you and doesn’t get you sort of overwhelmed or in the weeds too bad.

One of the best pieces of business advice I got, and I don’t even know who I got it from it was like way back in the early days, was to only learn the very next thing you need to do in your business. So we teach that as just in time learning, not just in case learning. And so many of us get so caught up in just in case learning, we see a course and we have fear of missing out. So we think we so we buy it, but we’re not really invested because it’s not the next step we need to take in our business. So that’s the best way to learn is like what is the very next thing I need to do in my business? Let’s say it’s Facebook ads. So go sign up for a Facebook ads course, but not until you’re doing Facebook ads. You know, so just in time learning versus just in case learning for me because I am a lifelong learner and know that about myself. I actually use it for a reward. It’s like one of the ways that I reward myself in the evening is when I look accomplish the things that I wanted to accomplish that day is I just give myself like unplanned learning time that I can just get on the internet and learn and do whatever, you know, research. And it’s so it’s so much fun for me. But I think another another thing that you need to understand in your business is because I know that I am a lifelong learner, I’m not the type who wants to create a program and sell it over and over and over. And over and over, I know that I like to learn something and then teach it and then they’ll learn something new and then teach it. So because I know that about myself, I allow my business to be that way. So it’s like really tapping into who you are, and the way your own cycles and the way the way you do things and the things that you like, and allow your business to match that we always say rather than looking outside and saying what does the client want, you create the box, and you put in it what you want in it, that means the hours that you want to coach, if every everything, everything you put in the box, and then you invite people in and the people who want what’s in the box will come in, and the people who don’t, that’s great, because they’re not your people anyway. And a lot of coaches alike run around trying to make accommodations for every single client. And don’t do that, like you create the boundaries of your box, you decide what’s in it, and then you invite the

people in. Yeah, that’s something that I’ve struggled a little bit with, because everybody keeps, keeps, like pushing me towards like the money tactics. And I know that I’m not interested in learning more about that and teaching it. And so I’ve resisted I mean, I’ve held that boundary, but it has taken up some brain space over over the course of you know, my business. Yeah, by, you know, I keep thinking, Oh, what if I could just sell the tactics, then people would come in and buy.

I mean, one of the things you can do there, and it’s just a strategy of, you know what they need, but you give them what they want. Yeah, so so a lot of people want the tactics, they want the to do’s so maybe you just simply create a simple freebie with the tactics, because you know, that’s what they want, and it brings them in, and then they get to know you and you give them what you know, they need.

Yeah, yeah, that’s good. Yeah. Yeah, that’s another thing. I’m glad you mentioned strategy, because I know you’re, you’re big on strategy. And a lot of people want to, I see a lot, a lot of coaches looking for the how, of course, and then they see what they think is the how are they they’re looking for the formulas. So they see somebody using a formula, doing certain tasks. And, and this kind of goes back to what you were saying a little bit ago, Scott, you, you taught your students, the philosophies, the techniques, the concepts, and the strategies, and then you let them choose how they were going to use those to become successful. And so that’s the other thing that that I want to add to that is, don’t look for the tasks somebody is doing, look for, why they’re doing it. Now don’t necessarily look for how they’re doing, what they’re doing, how they’re getting that result, look at what they’re doing, and why they’re doing it. So techniques, concepts, strategies, philosophies, you can swipe those, instead of swiping the individual tasks, swipe, you know, maybe their their energy, or, you know, see, because I think we’re so focused on the actions that people are taking, that we forget to look at all of the other variables that are involved. And I think that’s something that you do really well, in your programs is you do you teach a lot of systems and structure and strategies, but you don’t teach them necessarily the task to do you’re like, This is what I do. This may or may not work for you. And, and I love that about your program, because it teaches people how to decide for themselves. And it doesn’t just teach them a formula.

Yeah, we really don’t like I mean, they’re essentially tactics when it’s like this is the 10 step formula, you follow it and then you have success. And that doesn’t mean that we don’t teach some frameworks we do we teach some frameworks around strategy. We want you to know every single quarter what you are working on in your business so that at the end of the quarter, something exists in your business that didn’t before. Like we teach things like that, but we don’t tell you what that thing is that you should be working on that should exist. We let you decide because we want you to be guided first of all by your our own desires, your own intuition, your own wisdom, we all have so much wisdom that we don’t tap into. So like we feel like we provide the frameworks within you to put your wisdom into. And like any tool you learn from any coach is just a tool, like, pick it up, use it, see how it works for you. Drop the pieces that don’t adjust them, add them with other tools that you have make your own, like, tools are just tools, I always talk about, like, a hammer is a tool and you wouldn’t pick up a hammer and like never put it down. It’s the same way with any tool. And I specifically refer to planning, but you don’t pick up planning and never put it down like you pick it up when it’s useful. And you put it down when it’s not. And that’s the same with any tool that you learn from any coach, pick it up, try it, see if it fits you keep the pieces that do but totally put down the pieces that don’t because nobody has the answers for your business. They do.

Yeah, yeah, I would just add one thing to that. And it’s something that is a little bit sensitive to me, because I’m not the kind of person that’s gonna say My way is right, and everybody else’s way is wrong. Everybody has their view on how to do it, what those list of things that you were talking about, people always want these tactics, or they want these techniques, or they want these, whatever. And, for me, it’s like, with my personality, it’s different than Kim’s. And so the way I would do it to be successful is going to be different than the way she will do it. I’m sure there are people that are listening to your podcast that would say, I paid money. And they told me to do it away that I just can’t force myself to do it. It’s not my personality, it’s not the way it works. And what frustrates me is that it wasn’t taught to them in a way that they realize I don’t have to do it that way to be successful. There are other ways to be successful. And still honor I’m an I am an extrovert. Kim is not. So the things that give me energy, like being being here talking with you, gets me pumped up, it gives me energy. But it would more be more be the opposite. For Canada, it would take energy for her to be I might need to do I might need a nap after she might eat a truth. But again, it’s the same thing in sales. It’s the same thing with money. If you teach people to this, this, this and this, and it just doesn’t work for them, then where are they? A lot of people will quit after that. They’re like, Well, if that’s the way it’s done, I’d rather quit and go back to corporate, I’d rather quit and go work at you know, at McDonald’s or whatever. And I just think that’s a disservice. So for me, it’s like, let’s figure out who you are. Let me ask you some questions. And then let’s figure out the best possible ways. And I may not always know what those are. It’s a matter of me giving you some ideas and letting you choose almost as if you went to the buffet. You know what, there’s probably a dish or two in the buffet, that is really yummy. It’s not appealing to me.

And something that I love may not be appealing to you. You have to figure out what it is. And I mentioned before we talk about standing your strengths. Does that mean you never leave your comfort zone? No, it doesn’t mean that there’s still going to be growth, your some of your biggest growth will come stretching yourself. And my example of that is in sales training. I used to try to get people to they I pair them up, I want you to give your highest energy pitch, and they would but and then they trade and then they would do it, then I would stop everybody and have them go over to the wall. And for 20 seconds I’d have them scream as loud as they could at the wall. You know, Kim always laughs If I was in your class, I would have said no, I refuse to do it. But I would have them do that. And here’s why. Because once they get that energy out, and they do and do that, and screaming for them their loudest might not be as near as loud as everybody else. But now, I would say 99.9 If not 100% people would go back into their pairs and give their most energetic pitch. And almost always, it was higher than the one that they had done before. In fact, sometimes double or triple what they have given before as far as their energy as far as their volume as far as their all that stuff. And it’s really about stretching yourself out. Now do I tell everybody every day to go scream at the wall? No, I don’t. That’s not not a tactic that I would necessarily recommend. But there are times when we need to get out of our comfort zone. Because that’s where we’re going to stretch. That’s where we’re going Grow?

Yeah. So, yeah, I don’t know if I would do that either. Or maybe I would know, I have become a lot better at going outside my comfort zone now. But certainly at the beginning of my business, I probably wouldn’t have done it.

Well, and I just want to, I want to, you know, touch that as well, because there have been a lot of people through the years, whether we’re talking about the athletics or sports, or we’re talking about live in life coaching, that have said to me, Coach, I’m just not comfortable doing this. And I’ve I would say to them, not always, depending on what it was, I would say, are you worried about what others are going to think about you? Are you worried about this? Are you worried about that? How motivated are you to be successful? Because there are some things I’m not saying screaming at the walls, one of them. But there are some things that I believe in that I would say, whatever your version of that will be fine for you. Right? It might not be the same way I would do. And again, I’m not talking about streaming off the wall. I’m talking about other things that I would say your version of this tactic or this technique will be good for you. Is you is your success, more important than your fear of? What if somebody’s listening to me? What if somebody knows I’m in yelling at the wall, even though I just said it’s not about that? I’m just trying to think of an example. Yeah, sometimes it really is about I want to be successful. So I might stretch myself, I’ll tell you right now that I do things today that I never, ever thought I would ever do. And it’s because I took a little step. And then I took a little bit bigger step. And then I took a little bit bigger step. And I recognize the wisdom. You know, a lot of people have knowledge. A little less people understand that, and even a little less lesser people know how to apply it. Well, for me, it’s like, I learned some of the greatest things from like a first or second year coach, I had been coaching for 25 years. It’s really interesting when we think we have arrived, where are we? Where are we are we that we think we don’t need to know anymore? Because that doesn’t seem very wise to me. I’m always open, I’m always open to somebody else’s view, and figure out how that applies to me. How do I apply that in my coaching in my life, as a dad as a husband as a, you know, all the different things, right? So it’s really about wisdom, taking it in figuring out how it fits. And that’s really the same thing in I believe in coaching and how to teach people how to make money. Take it in and think about it. Yeah, what is my version of that? How can I do that? And maybe my version starts to evolve into their version? I don’t know. It’s really about what you’re comfortable with today. And you might be a little more comfortable with it tomorrow.

Yeah, yeah. And I think that kind of speaks to like how people make decisions in their business. And where do they get that that wisdom from? Where? What’s the process for seeking their answers to the questions that they have? I think that’s really important. I think a lot of people, a lot of coaches, or a lot of new business owners struggle with that process of discerning between drama and true direction. How do I, I mean, I hear a lot of coaches ask, How do I know that that’s coming from, you know, my purpose, versus what I’m, you know, just afraid to do? And I just truly think that it doesn’t really matter that much. If you know, I mean, there are clarifying questions that you can ask to help you sort out what is it that you’re missing? What is it that you’re resisting? or avoiding, you know, goes back to shouting at the wall? Why am I avoiding that? Why am I resisting that? And, and trying to discern what is that? And then what is just knowing that this is not for me, and it may not always be that it’s not for you, but it might be just for right now. And that’s one of the things that I learned in coaching pilots, you said, Kim, and so like, it’s just for now in that, like, releases so much pressure can be so powerful to say, oh, yeah, it’s just for now.

I mean, it’s your freebie for now, your price for now, your offer for now. Everything is just for now. We think like the decisions are going to be so critical that we have to take a long time to make them it’s so permanent, and so permanent. None of them are you’re gonna make 10,000 pivots over the life of your business. And so No decision is super critical. So just like, really quick decision making is one of the things that we find in coaches who are successful faster.

Yeah. And I think another thing that prevents them from making those decisions or putting those decisions off is thinking that there is a right decision. I see that a lot, too. And what I finally came to the decision in my business is that, you know what, I’m going to quit trying to make all of my decisions perfect. And I am just going to learn everything from hindsight. Because hindsight really is the best teacher it is. It creates certainty, because there’s, you don’t have to guess at what’s going to happen. You know, what happened? You know, what served you you know, what didn’t you know how to move forward. But the scary part of that is, is that, in order to get that certainty that everybody craves, you actually have to do the thing that you’re afraid of doing wrong. And that’s how you get to hindsight. But I have been completely opened up my business when I have opened up myself to just learning in hindsight.

Yeah, totally. I think that’s, I think that’s why sorry, if I cut you off, I think that’s why so many people that are successful. Honestly, I think there are a lot of people that don’t see themselves as successful, but others would see them as successful and would say, I would kill to be where they are today. But I think when we go back and dissect, you know, we talk about the era of concept, evaluating, recording, and then assessing, when you go into the assessing, and you recognize that your success is built with so many bricks that say failure on him. How do we know that that’s the way to go? Because we tried it a different way. And it wasn’t right, so one of our four nouns are a bunch of our for nows, really just fortified, the things that we are good at that are going to work for us. And the only only way, the only real way to know that is to have a few failures along the way. So if you think about it, people will get a failure and say, That’s it, I’m done, I’m going back to corporate or I’m going to do something else. And my thinking is, wait a minute, that failure right there that you’re talking about quitting is the exact thing that you needed to build the strong foundation for your business to thrive. And again, you know, what we think is thriving, other people might not think is thriving, we have to decide what’s best for us. I’ll be honest, and I’m maybe I’m wrong by saying this. I don’t care if we ever make millions of dollars a year. As long as we make enough money to be charitable, and to take care of our family. That’s good enough for me. I’m old enough now that I mean, I’ve always wanted to retire by this age. So it’s about what I want. But when I look back, and I think about some of the failures, including in sports coaching, some of my best seasons had a loss in them that I had no explanation for. We never should have lost that game. But what we learned by losing that game catapulted us into in some cases, in fact, in quite a few cases, we never lost again, after that one ugly, can’t explain it can’t figure it out. loss we never lost again. So you can you tell me that that failure, that loss didn’t play a role in the rest of the season of success? It’s the same thing in business. It’s the same thing. Don’t be so afraid of failure. In fact, I want you to almost sometimes to celebrate your failure, because it’s a vital part of your success. that’s upcoming.

Yeah. Yeah, I’d love that. Because I totally agree with that, you know, you should celebrate anything that moves you forward, regardless of the outcome. Because I mean, in my retreat last year was a perfect example of this. You know, I felt like I failed, big time. But there was a lot of successes in that failure. Yeah, I took a loss or a financial loss, but I got to meet somebody in that that I didn’t know before. And her name was Joe, the money coach. And what I learned from that was that she was pretty dang good, amazing. And I would not have known that I could show up that way. I would not have met that version of myself. Had I not put myself in that situation. And, and when I look back at it at that whole experience, there was so much that I looked at and said, I cannot think of any other way that I would have learned what I learned. Had I not gone through that experience like that had I been a lot more successful in that I would not have learned probably even a quarter of what I learned by experiencing that. It’s like such discomfort and such such suffering, and, you know, but it launched me into a different version of myself. And so I wouldn’t trade. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Sorry, I don’t want to keep stepping on my wife here. But honestly, Jill, you know, for us to come on your show, it’s probably a little bit awkward. But I just have to say that after that experience, and you’re the way you explain it to me, it’s exactly what you just said, You are a champion. And somehow you figured that out inside that what you would say as a failure. You said, I lost some money financially. But I would bet if I had offered you before any of that happened. You could pay this amount of money, the amount of money that you lost, but you’re gonna find yourself and you’re going to realize that you truly are a champion, and you’ll just adjust on the fly, you’ll figure out something different. You would have said, done, I’ll pay it. And let’s because I want to learn that lesson. So you could have quit. I knew you wouldn’t, because I know you. But you could acquit right there some people would. And that’s not nothing against them. That’s truly where they are in their evolution. Personally, they haven’t realized that a failure is part of the success. It’s part of the solution. It’s part of the recipe. Yeah. Oh, my gosh, I like that. Recipe. Yeah, it really is part of the solution. It’s part of the recipe.

Yeah. Ah, this has been amazing. I don’t know if you guys have any, anything else you want to share? Anything you have coming up that you want to talk about in your business. But I’ll open the floor for you to, to say anything you still have that you want to add to our discussion or anything you want to talk about that you’re getting ready to do.

I just have three favorite questions for when those hard times come up in our business, when we think it’s a failure. Okay. The first is what knowledge do you have now that you didn’t have before? What strengths did this chapter uncover? And how did this chapter I like to call them chapter because you know, I like to talk about stories. How did this chapter help you become more you like, that is what hardship in our life is for, it’s to uncover who we are, who we’ve always been. And so, including the hardships and the trials and the things that we call fake failing in our business, they’re not failing, they’re just the steps that we build our success on. So we always talk about like, when you’re at step three, and step four, they don’t feel like they’re working, they just don’t. But when you’re at step 10, you can look back and see that step two, three, and four, were unnecessary, and they were working. So like, just keep going. And it feels like it’s not working, tap into like, what feels fun. That is the best thing to do in your business is what feels fun, because that taps into you. And when you tap into you, the more you you can do in your business, the faster you’re going to be successful. That’s what makes money easy as being you know, what we have coming up. We are in the middle of creating a fun new offer for coaches who are ready, and it’s not for every coach. It’s not for the beginning coach, but it’s for coaches who know who they are in the world know what they’re here to say, know what they’re here to do. We’re going to help you create your signature framework once you are at the point that you know what that is.

Oh my gosh, that’s so exciting. I can’t wait.

Yeah, we’re really excited about that. And then I have my soul stories program that we’ll be launching again in September, which is like my heart passion project. That is what I am here to do in the world. That’s what I am here to say like, I am a great business coach. That’s what I’m here to do is tell stories. So I also have that launching again in September. Scott has some fun new stuff in the works to all of our clients keep saying we want more sales stuff from Scott. So he’s got some ideas in the works.

Yeah, I would only add to what Kim said and you’ll you’ll get During versions of this in different programs from us, but it’s really about people deciding that they are a champion at some level, everybody has that inner champion inside of them. So people are at varying levels of realization. And that does tie a lot into identity, the things that we’ve been through, you know, I’ve said this many times, it all starts by starting out saying, This person is incredible in spite of the things that they’ve been through. And then as I get to know them more, on a deeper level, it’s not in spite of their incredible because of the things that they’ve been through. So be careful, I would just say this to your audience, be very careful that your identity doesn’t have things in it, that don’t belong. Just because you went through them, maybe you made a mistake, maybe you didn’t, maybe you’re blaming yourself, for the things that decisions of others, but you have that champion inside of you. And if you can just merely figure out how to tap into that your future is bright, you’re going to be great. We just have to figure out how to get you there. So and I say we, it doesn’t have to include me, it doesn’t have to include us, it could be on your own. But it’s something that I’m very passionate about, when you can take a group of ragtag and I, they would probably not love that tag, or that, that that version, but some not very big kids and I say kids, high school kids, and turn them into state champions. It took a little while for them to believe in themselves. But once they did, they took off, their performance took off. And it’s the same in business. Once you realize, I have it in me, I totally can do this. And I can do it using a lot of the strengths I already have. And still try to create some more strengths. It’s absolutely possible. It’s, it’s possible for everybody. So if any of your listeners right now are saying he’s talking about somebody else, I’m not I’m talking about you, especially if you’re saying Nope, he’s not talking about me, you have it inside of you. So that’s the only thing I would add that I’m passionate about. And that you’ll find that in varying versions and varying amounts and forms through different stuff that we talk about. Programs.

Absolutely. Yeah, and, and we think a lot of like, scary. Like I just appreciate you too, so much. I really appreciate all the support you’ve given me and I appreciate you, you know, sharing some of that with our audience today. Just the you guys are doing such amazing work in the world.
