God Loves a Cheerful Giver

When we give, how can we give from our hearts and with an abundant mindset?

In 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 we learn that God loves a cheerful giver. We are encouraged to be generous as our Father is generous.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Those of us (I say “us” because I still coach myself on this) that have a scarcity mindset, we may not feel abundance. Regardless of our circumstances, we can feel abundance or we can feel like we don’t have enough.

This goes for time, money, energy, any “resource” in my life.

Regardless of my circumstances … because the feeling of abundance comes from my thoughts. The feeling of abundance does not come from my circumstances.

I can have a million dollars and still feel like I don’t have enough … or I can have a dollar and feel abundance. It will depend on what I’m thinking.

What’s even more incredible and amazing is that what I’m thinking I have the power to choose. I can choose to believe the thought, “I don’t have enough to pay all my bills.” Or I can choose to believe the thought, “I have enough to keep a roof over my head and food on my table.”

I can choose to focus on what I don’t have or I can choose to focus on what I do have.

What I focus on is what I achieve. If I focus on abundance I achieve abundance. Therefore I have the power to be a cheerful giver.

What kind of giver will you choose to be?
